Support Our Work: Progressive Farmers

Donate Now

Thank you for choosing to support Farm Forward’s work with a tax-deductible donation! As a smaller nonprofit organization, we are able to avoid many of the administrative costs that come with size and can promise that every dollar you contribute will be used with care and prudence to promote our work. Donations in any size are welcome.

Please note that to provide you with the most secure and efficient method of payment you will be taken to an external page to finalize your donation.

Support The Most Progressive Farmers In America

We need your help to continue our work assisting the most humane and sustainable farmers in America in their efforts to create alternatives to factory farming. By pledging $15 per month, you'll help ensure that we can provide essential consulting services to progressive farmers–like Frank Reese–all across the country. If you're considering a larger donation, we'd love to discuss the ways a major gift could have a profound impact in our work moving farming forward. We hope to hear from you!

Without [Farm Forward's] ongoing support my work would come to a standstill." –Frank Reese, Good Shepherd Poultry Ranch

Become a Farm Forward Partner (Even if You Can’t Give a Dime)

We understand that not everyone is in a position to give as much as they would like, so we also invite you to pledge to raise funds from your friends, family, and colleagues. Especially with new Internet-based technologies, ordinary individuals can effectively raise funds as never before. Whether you pledge to raise $100 or $10,000, we’ll consider you a Farm Forward Partner—a member of our team. We will work with you personally to provide the tools and support you need to confidently approach others for donations. Send us an email expressing interest, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible with an individualized reply.

Other ways to get involved

  • One of the most important—and one of the simplest—things you can do to help is sign up for the Farm Forward newsletter: All you have to do is enter your name and email address on the right. We won't spam you or share your email address with anyone, and this will help us keep you posted about our most important work. Having a large mailing list will help us apply for grants, threaten bad guys, and otherwise get the job done. It would also be great if you'd encourage others to do the same.
  • Continue to be mindful of the food you buy and eat. A 2008 New York Times article reported that "if Americans were to reduce meat consumption by just 20 percent it would be as if we all switched from a standard sedan—a Camry, say—to the ultra-efficient Prius." We're currently working on programs that will help consumers all over the world find the most responsible companies and products, and we'd love to hear from you if you're interested in supporting this project specifically.

Cows and Calves

Cattle are the only farmed animals that typically spend part of their lives unconfined and outdoors. Does that mean cattle raised for beef have the best lives of any farmed animal?

Pigs

More than 97 percent of America’s hog farmers have been driven out of business, but we’re producing more pork than ever. Genetically engineered pigs raised in intensive confinement have become the industry standard. How did it happen?

Poultry

Americans eat more than 100 times as much chicken meat as we did a century ago. But the whopping 9 billion chickens we eat each year are genetically engineered, drugged, and sick. What happened?

  • Anything Goes - Chickens are the most abused of all farmed animals, and yet they are completely unprotected under US federal law.
  • Chicken vs. Chimp - New studies suggest chickens have some intellectual abilities that surpass primates. Is it true?
  • Chickens and Turkeys Raised Right - Meet America’s last poultry farmer.

Sea Animals

Fish factory farms and industrial fishing are emptying our oceans. In some industries, up to 98 percent of the sea animals caught are thrown back, dead, as "bycatch." Can we fish better?
